{my dad & i when i was about 3 years old}

since this is all is in honor of my dad, i wanted to choose a name that brought a ton of meaning to mind when i heard it. the name is two parts:

1st: when i was a little girl, we would on occasion go to the river where my grandmom's friend lived. when dark would fall, there were these beautiful fireflies that would skitter about the night sky. it was so amazing to me. i suppose it still is. my parents helped my brother & i catch the fireflies. it has always been a vivid memory of my childhood. i am not sure my dad would have even remembered doing that with me, but i remember doing that with him.

2nd: in high school (when i graduated) i gave my dad a book by eric carle. "papa, please get the moon for me". it is a simple story of a little girl who asks her dad to get her the moon with classic eric carle illustrations. my dad always said he would get the moon for me if he could, so there was a little bit of emotion behind the book. when i got pregnant with ash, i walked into my dads room and there on his night stand was the book i gave him. it was then and there i knew i wanted my kids to call him 'papa'. and they do! his headstone has the words 'papa' too. it is a lovely memory! a memory that always reminds me of when i gave my dad a childs book!

so... i smashed the two things together & now we have a whimsical name.
